The Australian Kangaroo Penny was designed by George Kruger Gray in 1938 and the coin was used in circulation until 1966. The coin was minted from 1938 through to 1964 with the exception of 1946 and 1954. For the years where the coin was not minted and for years from 1965 through to present, a Commemorative Dial Medallion will be used instead.

You can select a genuine silver Kangaroo Penny coin or a commemorative dial medallion for your coin watch. If you choose a year where the coin was not minted, the watch will be fitted with a Commemorative Dial Medallion with your chosen year. The dials are beautiful replicas of the original iconic coins.

The coinwatch has a classic design with a gold plated stainless steel case with raised Roman numerals around the bezel and a two-tone stainless steel gold plated bracelet with single piece links. A genuine florin coin is featured as the dial face: The coat of arms design shows a shield representing each state with a kangaroo and emu chosen because neither animal can walk backwards supporting the slogan ‘Advance Australia’.

You can choose a special year for your coin to commemorate a special occasion. The florin is available for years from 1930 through to 1963*. The florin was not minted in 1930, 1937, 1939, 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1955. If you choose a year that was not minted, you will receive a Commemorative Dial Medallion instead. A Commemorative dial is available in these years and from 1964 to the present. The dials are beautiful replicas of the original iconic coins.
