Melbourne, Australia, November 12, 2013 – Everyone's favourite time of the year is looming. The countdown has been set, shopping malls are now being decked with tinsel and Red Wrappings has just launched the 'Crappiest Xmas Gifts Competition'. Despite its name, the noble goal of the competition is to spread Christmas cheers far and wide and to lift the bar on gift giving standards.Participants are asked to reveal the 'crappiest gift' they've given, and to then nominate a Christmas gift from Red Wrappings to give, that they believe would atone for their past Christmas sins. Entries require no purchase obligations and will go into the draw to win one of three $50 Red Wrappings Gift Vouchers. The three lucky winners will be chosen based on how 'reformed' their entries are deemed by Red Wrappings. “This year, we wanted to encourage people to pause and consider the consequences of bad Christmas gifts from the recipient's end”, says Jeissy Koriston, Red Wrappings Promotions Coordinator. “It's sad that gift giving is clouded by apathy these days. Our aim is to inject some much needed pride back into the art of gift giving.” Red Wrappings Marketing Director, Su Cameron, believes that several factors have led people to view gift giving around Christmas as a banal social formality. “Christmas is stressful for everyone. Our social networks and obligations are expanding each year, but our time and wallets are not. In today's technologically driven society, people believe a good gift must be the fastest, biggest and loudest. But a good gift doesn't have to end with -est. As long as it's relevant, and shows thoughtfulness, the gift will go a long way no matter how unassuming it is.The competition closes December 12, so there is one month to get your entries in.To give better Christmas gifts without the additional stress, take a look at our range here or call us on +61 3 9918 4299.
