The Bollinger R.D. is one of the true treasures of Champagne reserved for that special event. R.D. stands for Recently Disgorged. R.D. spends eight years on its lees, and is aged under cork, not crown seal. It is a wine of earth moving complexity and astronomical depth of flavour.

"Very rich and very layered bouquet with toasty, bready, roasted nuts, gingernut biscuit, brandy snap and hints of flor sherry among the complex array of aromas. There's less overt aldehyde than the Grande Annee '05. Instead, the wine has immaculate balance and savoury softness, dry and clean on the finish. The range of flavours is outstanding, and the wine has an amplitude that really fills the mouth and lasts very long on the follow-through. Wonderful wine."
