Bristol F2B Fighter Biplane

The Bristol F2B biplane was a successful fighter/reconaissance aircraft in the First World War, and remained in military service with the Royal Flying Corp until the 1930s. It was successful even against enemy single seater fighters of the Luftwaffe.

The biplane was armed with a synchronised Vickers machine gun at the front, and a rear facing Lewis machine gun mounted on a scarfe ring for the observer at the rear of the cockpit, to rotate and fire at will.

The total bomb load was 240lbs or 110kg. Todays fighters carry bombs and missiles of around 10,000lbs by comparison.
